As what is (not) being tracked has been varying heavily, maybe we should settle on some criteria as to granularity (coarse: top-level features; fine-grained: every single patch). Quite possibly the granularity to use may also change as a release cycle progresses (past feature freeze, tracking individual patches may make sense).
The underlying problem is that too much information can be difficult to deal with, while at the same time too little information is of course unhelpful altogether.
